CAUTION - DIY projects will overtake a room in your home!!! :)

Picture
Since I started my DIY projects last year (Nov 2008) our dining room has gotten progressively more & more cluttered with wedding stuff.  About January 2009 we were no longer able to eat dinner in our dining room & as of May 2009 the dining room is officially a CAUTION ZONE due to all the boxes of DIY projects.  IT'S OUTTA CONTROL! :) LOL  I can't wait to be married so we can get rid of all this stuff & have our dining room back!

Lots of DIY projects...Save the dates, invitations, programs, menu cards, escort cards, welcome baskets for OOT guests, centerpieces for the reception, etc.  If you'd like templates from any of my projects please feel free to page me on the Colorado board or email me at [email protected]

Reception Centerpieces

These are my DIY "rustic yet elegant" centerpieces (my way of cutting out the crazy expense of flowers) :-)  I love how they turned out!!!  I think we'll end up using roses, dahlias or mums as the blooms instead of the silk flowers that I have in the pic above.

Favors

Picture
Here are our favor boxes.  My mom bought them at Michaels for 50% off & then I added the aspen leaf stamp & the ribbon.  We are giving our guests 2 squares of Enstrom's Almond Toffee (see picture below).  This is THE BEST toffee ever!!! (& just happens to be from the town where we lived when we first started dating)!

JUST MARRIED Parasol

Picture
this was probably the most labor intensive DIY project I've done to date...but I LOVE it & can't wait to take pictures with it! :-)

THANK YOU Parasol

Picture
The second parasol DIYed.  This one was a lot quicker but still a tedious project.  I'm so happy with the final product & SO much cheaper than buying them online.  The parasols I bought for $5.50 each from pearlriver.com & the acrylic paint was 69 cents @ Michaels.

Door signs

Picture
super easy project that cost about $2.50 total for 3 signs & gives our "getting ready rooms" a more personal touch...and I couldn't resist doing a "do not disturb sign" for our room on the wedding night

Guest book/ Advice for the Newlyweds

Picture
I've never really understood what people do with their wedding guests books when the wedding is over.  Since I LOVE to scrapbook, I thought it would be more fun to do something where our guests could write little notes to us & then I could incorporate them into our wedding scrapbook! :-)

Table Names

Picture
Got these $1 plain wood frames at Michaels in the Bargain section.  Painted them copper & "wha-la"...table names for our reception & SUPER CHEAP! :-)

Program Basket

Picture
our program basket...don't mind our dog in the background (he was very curious about what I was doing! LOL)

DIY Sand Ceremony Kit

Picture
This is our DIY Sand Ceremony kit that I put together for $15 bucks.  I found a glass bottle with a wide mouth & a cork at Arc Thrift Store for $2.99.  The vases that we will use to hold our sand were .99 cents a piece.  The sand was the most expensive part ($2.99 per bag @ Michaels).  I added a stamp of the aspen leaf (our theme on all of our wedding stuff).  Then I embossed the leaf so that it is a little bit raised from the glass....it turned out great! :-)

Welcome bags for OOT Guests

Since all of our guests are coming from out of town (& most are coming from out of state) we put together some welcome baskets/bags for our OOT guests who are staying @ Devils Thumb Ranch.  The staff @ the lodge will put these in everyone's rooms before they check-in on Saturday.

Included bottled water (Voss water of course!!!), Boulder Potato chips, Celestial Seasonings Green Tea & Cinnamon Apple Spice Tea packets, Rocky Mountain Popcorn, Minnie Beasley's almond lace cookies (made here in Denver...if you've never had them you need to buy a bag...they are THE BEST COOKIES EVER!!! :), a deck of playing cards w/ Colorado images, vacation guide & info on Winter Park's summer activities (alpine slide, etc), a Colorado postcard, & DTR sticker & pen :)   We have also enclosed a little "brochure" for our guests with important info, weekend event timeline, etc.

These are my favorite DIY item (besides the parasols) because I know our guests will love them & FI and I had a lot of fun deciding & gathering things to put in them!!!

"Entertainment Bags" for the Kids @ the Reception

Picture
We will have several kids at our wedding & reception.  In order to help keep them occupied (& as quiet as possible :) during the dinner part of our reception we are offering them kids meals & I put together little bags (everything is from the Dollar Tree!!!  Each bag contains a coloring book (reformatted from knottie "thesaltypeanut"), a box of crayons, 3-D movement animal stickers, spinning tops, a ring pop, glowstick bracelets & a koosh-like ball.  Boys got matchbox cars & dinosaur figures and the girls got care-bear pencils & lip-smackers chapstick.
